How To Choose Long Tail Keywords

Lately there has been a lot of talk about using long tail keywords in your blogging adventures.

But truthfully, a lot of what you’ve heard about using long tail keywords in incorrect and misleading.

However, today I want to clear some things up for you so that hopefully you can become the bloggin sharpshooter that you were meant to be.

So what exactly are long tail keywords?

To start off with, one of the big misconceptions that you will hear out there is that long tail keywords are words that usually have 3 or more words. Sadly, this isn’t correct.

It is sometimes true that longer phrases can show up in the long tail results for a search. But don’t be fooled by that inhow to choose long tail keywords your research.

Here’s what you really need to know about how to choose long tail keywords for you blog

When you want to generate traffic for you blog, then you will need to look not at the amount of words in your phrase, but instead look at the number searches done for the phrase to determine whether or not it is indeed a true long tail keyword.

How about an example.

Let’s say that you wanted to do a search for a keyword phrase and you chose to research the phrase cut hair.

And in so doing,  you come across the choices:

cut hair 900 searches

how to wash long hair 1200 searches

blonde hair 650 searches

Looking at the phrases here which one of them would be considered the long tail phrase?

If you said blonde hair then you would be correct.

See it’s the number of searches that count.

Always remember to look at the number of searches to determine if it is a phrase you should be using in your blogging adventures.

The example above was just one I made up for this sample so don’t go out there thinking you can start a blog on blonde hair.

If you’re trying to rank for a word with a moderate competition then you can gain some traction by going with words that have less competition, but that you can also rank really easy for.

“Why a Bad Economy is Good News”

Why is a bad economy good news for you?

Well, let’s think about it for a moment.

What happens when businesses are hit with a bad economy…

Typically what you will see is that your competition is struggling. They are having trouble keeping their business going. Customers are leaving their business and new business isn’t coming in fast enough to keep up with the amount of bills that are piling up.

Now you’re thinking how is that good news for you?

It means that you can now take advantage of those customers who are leaving your competition and if you’re a smart marketer, you can get those people to now come over to your business.

Your competition is constantly looking backwards at their business because of the slow economy. Meanwhile, you are looking forward.

And we all no what happens when you have two people and one of them is looking backwards while trying to go forward and the other person is just looking forward.

Nothing happens. They get stuck.

But what exactly does getting stuck in a business mean?

My definition of getting stuck is when a business doesn’t see monthly, quarterly or yearly growth…then that means your business is stuck.

If your business has or is currently experiencing these things then your business is stuck, and what you will have to do is work on ways for getting un-stuck.

So that brings us to the million dollar question..how do you get your business un-stuck?

First off the surest way to start the process of getting your business un-stuck is to gather up the numbers

Break down the numbers not from just month to month. But also year to year as well as by categories. Things like how many new leads are coming in, average sale, average product source etc.

You should also look to install a system in place that can create predictable results for your business in a sustainable and continuous manner.

What’s needed is for you to keep enhancing and advancing so that you can look at your business 90 -100 days from now so that you can engineer growth.

From there you need to incorporate growth thinking into everything that you do.

It doesn’t matter how big or how small you might think the matter is. You’ll need to look at how it relates to you growing your business.

Is it easy?

Nope…

But it’s necessary to get your business unstuck.

So how can you take advantage of your competition if they are stuck?

The easiest thing to do is for you to demonstrate your value to your competition’s customers.

But unlike you’re competition, you don’t do that just by lowering your prices.

The smarter way of going after your competition’s customers is to go after their minds.

Let me explain.

We all have a mental process that we go through when it comes to making a buying decision. When you understand that the buying process comes before money has exchanged hands, then you simply need to better understand how that process works.

Then when you understand how their mental process leads them to make a purchase, you can put together your marketing materials so that it fits in with that process.

When you can do that then you’re on your way to legally stealing you competitions customers.

Can you legally steal your competition’s customers in a bad economy? Is there a stealthy way to leverage your competition’s misfortune into a benefit for your business? Learn how it can be done. Leave a comment below stating that you want to learn how.

“I Felt Silly Selling Mobile Marketing Services To Small Business Owners?”

Why is selling mobile marketing services to small business owners so hard?

Well, first off you have to understand that there is a disconnect with small business owners when it comes to mobile marketing.

Most small business owners don’t see the value of mobile marketing. With so many day to day items to be concerned about, mobile marketing just doesn’t pop on their radar.

The biggest mistake people make when selling mobile marketing

This by far is the biggest mistake that I see made when selling mobile marketing to small businesses…and that is the mistake of results.

Small business owners are generally stressed out. They have a lot of things going on so what they don’t need is you coming to them to offer them¬† something else to add to their already large list of things to do.

What they want is bottom line results.

You have to show them how their business will be better then their competition because of mobile marketing

What they want is to know how that mobile marketing service will translate into new customers and new dollars coming through to their business.

Way to often I see marketers pitching their technology and how they have the latest thing-a-ma-bob.

They don’t care about your new technology.

What they do care about is what works

One experiment I did that got a small business owner jumping for joy to use mobile marketing was to set up a campaign and delivered results right there on the spot.

See one of the secrets that top salesman know about selling is the power of demonstration. I showed the business owner how I could supply fresh leads to them on a regular basis through mobile marketing…and it worked.

I used two services that I could use to generate leads and simply diverted the leads to that customer.

If you want to know about the two lead generation companies I used then leave me a comment on this post.

“How To Generate Leads… and Attract New Customers with Video Marketing”

What exactly is video marketing?

In it’s most simplest form, video marketing is merely the act of putting your sales message on video and using that video to present your sales pitch to your market.

However, as simple as that may sound, you first have to have someone to show that video to. That’s called your lead.

So part of your marketing strategy has to involve generating a qualified lead.

How do you generate leads for your business?

This is the $64,000 dollar question that trips up most people. And although this is too large of a question to try to answer here in this post, I will give you an inside look at one of the methods I’ve used over and over to generate leads that I could show my video marketing message to.

This method uses simple networking in face to face situations. I like using it because it relies on the use of the business card or should I say the lack of a business card.

Here’s how I did it.

As a business owner, I would seek out and find my local chamber of commerce. You can do the same. Every city has some form of a chamber of commerce. I signed up and became a member. You might want to see how much it will cost to become a member. Some fee’s are rather high and others are rather low. You’ll have to find out that info and make a decision.

Once you become a member, they generally have meeting whereby you can meet with other members of the chamber and introduce yourself.

What I would do was as I introduced myself, there would normally be an opportunity to present my business card to the person I was talking to. And somehow..magically I would have lost my business card and would instead…ask for their email address.

Why would you want to say you don’t have a business card?

Because a business card doesn’t present a good opportunity for you to get them to view your video. When they receive your card and by the time they get to a computer or laptop to view your video, too much time has passed and they often forget.

Compare that to when they receive your email and open it up, they are in a position to view your email immediately.

Within that email I give them the video link.

Real simple.

So let’s recap here for a bit.

1. Join your local chamber of commerce

2. Attend your local meetings.

3. When asked for your card, instead ask them for their email.

4. Send them your video marketing message.
